My Story

Meet our puppy mom, Billie! Billie was surrendered to a high kill shelter, pregnant. Billie has the long legs of an Italian greyhound, as well as the body type. While her exact breed mix is anyone’s guess, she is our favorite - MUTT! Billie is a shy girl. She needs a patient home that will allow her the time to adjust to a new environment. Once she knows and trusts you, you will not find a better friend. Billie adjusts quicker to women but will adjust to men with time. Billie has been to the vet and received a clean bill of health. She is spayed, heartworm negative, up to date on monthly heart worm medication, and up to date on all vaccines. Billie has not officially been dog tested but she has met multiple dogs of all sizes, male and female, through the fence without issue. We have not tested her with cats. While the pictures can be deceptive, our Billie is small at 20 pounds. The vet estimates she is about 2 years old. It is clear that Billie did not live in a home previously but she has quickly acclimated and has been doing wonderful with house training and crate training. If you are interested in meeting Billi, the first step is to complete an application at our website, www.helporphanpuppies.org. Please note that our adoption requirements are noted on our website. Help Orphan Puppies is registered with the New York State Department of Agriculture and our registration number is RR047.
