Life hasn't been an easy ride for me. Before coming to PPFT, I spent my days begging for attention, often going without food, and enduring the elements 24/7. My owner had a peculiar fondness for dogs, collecting us like some people collect stamps. We were crammed into a small, overgrown pen, and it was chaos. Fights would break out, and I learned to hide quickly—if you didn't get out of the way, you'd end up in the middle of the brawl too. When things were calm, we would just hope for a scrap of attention from our owner. But those moments were rare. We were lucky if he even remembered to feed us. It sounds terrible, and looking back, it definitely was, but that was the only life I had ever known since I was a puppy. I never got to come inside, never escaped the relentless heat, the bone-chilling cold, the rain, the storms, or the snow. That was just how life was. Then one day, our owner left and never came back. We were abandoned in that small pen, left to fend for ourselves. We were incredibly lucky that someone discovered us and reached out for help. The only option was the local shelter, but it was tiny and couldn't accommodate so many dogs. If we couldn't find somewhere to go, we were all going to be euthanized. Thankfully, some amazing volunteers worked tirelessly to get us out of there. Thanks to an incredible foster family stepping up with PPFT, I got my second chance at life! ??
Upon entering my foster home, I think the thing I remember the most was that first feeling of A/C. By the time we had been rescued, the days had become so hot and there was never any kind of real relief from it. Getting to feel that cold air and get away from the heat is a feeling I will probably never forget! I went to the vet for the first time in my whole life and got all fixed up and taken care of...except for one thing. Turns out, I am heartworm positive. This is yet another way my owner failed me. Now I have to go through a lengthy couple month treatment to get rid of them. But I guess the good news is that I am getting rid of them, and at least come around mid-July I will be all set to go home! I figure it was a good idea to go ahead and introduce myself already so hopefully I will have a loving family waiting for me at the finish line in about another month waiting with open arms!
Despite my past, I am one of the sweetest and most gentle girls you'll ever meet. Sure, I might be a bit cautious when meeting new dogs and people at first. But who wouldn't be? Life hasn't exactly been a walk in the park for me. Once I realize that no one is going to hurt me, I transform into a happy-go-lucky girl who loves playing with other dogs and cuddling with my humans! I've even met the furry bags of attitude known as cats in my foster home. They are these mysterious creatures I had never encountered before joining PPFT, and I'm fascinated by them. I get all excited trying to befriend them, but for some reason, my charm doesn't seem to work on them. They just keep walking off with that air of superiority. One day, though, I just know I'll win over a kitty and have a purring friend for life! Kids? I haven't met any yet. But I imagine if they're gentle and patient, we could become best pals in no time. If they're loud and don't quite get that I need to take things slow and be reassured that everything will be okay, it might not be the best match.
Once I let my guard down, I transform into a playful puppy with a zest for life. You see, I never really got the chance to just be a puppy, so now I'm making up for lost time. I love dashing around the yard like a squirrel on caffeine, playing with toys, and engaging in epic games of chase with my doggy pals. Walks? Oh, they're the best! Every leaf, every stick, every fire hydrant is an adventure waiting to happen. There's just so much to learn and experience, and I'm ready for it all with my tail wagging and my ears flopping in the wind. After I've had my fill of fun and burned off some energy, I become the ultimate snuggle bug. I love curling up on the couch, melting into my humans like a puddle of fur and affection. There's nothing quite like the feeling of being pet and knowing I'm safe, loved, and in my happy place.
I think apartment life would be yet another brand-new adventure for me! With time, I bet I'd become an expert apartment dweller. My new family would just need to be active and patient as I continue honing my leash skills and building my confidence with all the exciting new things we'll encounter. I'm happy to report that I'm already potty trained, which apparently is a pretty big deal—who knew humans cared so much about where we do our business? And guess what? I'm also kennel-trained! I may not be a barker, but I do enjoy a good chat and will gladly alert you to things. My fosters say my "talking" is pretty darn cute, like having a furry little gossip buddy. So far, I haven't been a big chewer, but I am still young and have just discovered the magical world of toys. So, I can't promise I won't take your stinky shoes or TV remote for a joyride one day. But hey, isn't that part of my charm? ;)
So, if you're ready for an adventure and a whole lot of love, look no further! Adopting me means welcoming a playful spirit, a cuddle buddy, and a charming chatterbox all rolled into one adorable package. I'll keep you laughing with my antics, warm your heart with my snuggles, and make every day a little brighter. Plus, you'll have the best walking buddy in town, always ready to explore and discover new things with you. So, what are you waiting for? Let's start this amazing journey together—adopt me, and let's make a lifetime of happy memories! Apply at https://www.emailmeform.com/builder/form/hx000BP7nbQvjHX49Uur80FV3
Once your application comes on, PPFT will send over more details about me and forward your app to my foster family for review. If everything still sounds like a match, PPFT will finish getting you all approved so you can meet and welcome me home! <3
Oh, another thing. I am being fostered in Midwest, OK. If you have fallen in love with me and are out of state, how about a road trip? PPFT doesn't send us on commercial transport to limit our stress. So, if you want to welcome me or one of my other fluffy butt comrades to your family, it is time to plan a trip to good ole Oklahoma ?
