My Story

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Betty and her sister Veronica landed in one of our local North Texas shelters and were terribly frightened in that loud, crowded environment. When we pulled them out, they were so scared that we had to carry them from the building to our van. They were not so frightened once they arrived at Windsong Ranch, but they were very shy. With time and love, they learned that humans were pretty good after all. Betty gets along well with the other dogs here, both male and female. She can be very playful with other young dogs, but can also be very serious when duty calls. She ignores the barn cats. We think Betty might like living inside the house, but we haven't been able to give her that option due to over-crowding. She's not really cut out for life as a working LGD, as she would rather chase/play with the goats than guard them. Betty currently lives in a small pasture with no livestock, just a few other young dogs. There are goats and longhorn cattle on the other side of the fence, and she shows no prey drive toward them. But when she's on the same side of the fence as the goats, she gets bored easily and wants to chase. We have not tested her with chickens.
