My Story

PLEASE READ THE INFORMATION IN THE DOG'S PROFILE, AS WELL AS THE INFORMATION ON OUR WEBSITE BEFORE EMAILING US WITH QUESTIONS. Our Volunteers use up valuable time answering questions, when the answers are readily available on our website. Our adoptions come with 30 days of free post-adoption support through Petcademy.org. We are a foster-based rescue. We do not have a facility. MEET & GREETS FOR DOGS IN ONTARIO WILL ONLY BE ARRANGED ONCE AN ADOPTION APPLICATION IS APPROVED. THANK YOU!!! Please visit our website for more information: https://www.niagaradogrescue.com/ or fill in our adoption application: https://niagaradogrescue.com/adoption-application.php OUT-OF-TOWN Dogs with NDR refer to dogs we have saved that have yet to make their journey to Ontario. These dogs are currently in our care with the help of our partners in the area. These dogs will all travel to the Niagara Region once an appropriate adopter or local foster is found. Walks on leash: yes, may need some work Rides well in car: yes Destructive: no, but never left loose when I’m gone Needs a home with a yard: preferred Needs a home with another dog: bonded with Bonnie Can live in an apartment: possibly in a townhouse in a quieter community Foster insights/story: Betsie was living in the streets of a small town with her friend Bonnie. They were crossing busy streets often, so I had to trap them for their own safety, as they were too scared to approach people. As soon as she was trapped she immediately became a love bug!! She is very needy because she has been starved for affection for so long. She will go play with dogs, however, she mainly wants to be with her humans. She's very quiet in her crate. She can be very shy at first with dogs and people but warms up quickly. When I first got her, she growled at dogs. She developed this behaviour as a means of keeping herself safe from the other aggressive stray dogs in the city she was living in. She has since learned dogs can be your buddies and loves to play chase with her doggy friends!! She would make a perfect loyal, cuddly family member!! Name: Bonnie (20240607-01) Weight: 24 lbs Age: 10 months Gender: female Spayed/Neutered: yes Breed: Corgi/Border Collie mix Colour: black & white Neck size (for collar): Height (from top of head): Length (from nose to base of tail): Crate size recommended: 36 inch Good with adults: yes Good with kids: yes Good with other dogs: yes Good with cats: yes, a little scared House trained: yes Crate trained: yes Energy level: medium Can be handled/touched: yes may be shy at first . Loves to lick you Barker: no, not a lot Flight risk: yes always confined Food aggressive: no Walks on leash: Needs work Rides well in car: yes Destructive: always crated when gone but always good if she has a bone. Needs a home with a yard: preferred not required Needs a home with another dog: bonded with Betsie Can live in an apartment: possibly a low rise or house apartment in a quiet community but with her height stairs could be an issue. Foster insights/story : Bonnie was running the streets with her friend Betsie and absolutely would not approach people. She actually had to be darted to be captured. The minute she was safe she became a pet. She loves to slide on the carpet and play with toys. She's a pure joy! Pretty certain she's a corgi mix with those short little legs, but this baby loves to have fun. She will be shy at first but quickly warms up.
