Weight: about 85 lbs. This is a private adoption that SOS posts as a courtesy. All follow ups need to be directed to the indicated party listed below description. Bernie is a 6 year old loveable, loyal English Bulldog. He is looking for a home where he can live out his years as your only pet. He loves neighborhood walks and nature walks, eating and sleeping. He would do best in a family with folks of at least school age or up. He has had all his shots and teeth cleaned. He been trained in conjunction with a professional dog trainer to sit, down, stay, leave it and more. He is eager to please his owners. Bernie has lived with only one extended family: a daughter and her husband and the daughter’s parents. He performed admirably while the young husband was in Iraq as the dog of the house. In October 2009, Bernie was a bit growly towards our daughter’s baby: no biting, just noise. She was understandably nervous and so my husband and I took Bernie in. It turned out that Bernie had an ear infection, which was promptly treated. But that probably explains his temporary irritability that one day. Previously he let the baby crawl all over him and pull his ears with no negative response. However since taking him in to our home, Bernie does not get along with our male Boxer and that is why we, extremely reluctantly, are looking for a home for him and why we want him to be the only pet his new forever family. He likes homemade peanut butter/oat bran dog biscuits (recipe comes with Bernie), cheesy eggs and chasing squirrels through the yard. He has been particularly good with me after a recent knee replacement: he follows me slowly as I do my walking exercises, he sits on the stair above where I do my flexing, he lays on the bed to keep me company when I need to rest. He is sensitive and gentle concerning health issues of his people. Bernie is an inside dog and needs a fenced yard. Additional information: Housetrained (paws a bell to go out). Current on shots.
