My Story

Benji has had a rough life. He came from a shelter on the West Coast last year where he was scheduled for euthanasia. He was transferred to a foster home in South Florida where he was adopted to an older, single man who was just looking for companionship. Benji performed his mission perfectly.......perhaps too well. He was a loveable, easygoing, approving admirer . The gentleman's self-esteem improved and he started venturing out more. This enabled the owner to meet more people. Before long, the gentleman became very busy with outside social activities. One weekend, the owner decided to go on a weekend trip. He asked the previous foster Mom if she could babysit him for a day or so, which she accepted. Sunday and Monday came........no call from the owner. A few days passed and the foster Mom became concerned. One day she came home to his phone message stating he was enjoying the freedom of his new, single life and didn't want to be "tied down." He said, "It wouldn't be good for Benji." Benji was in foster care for a few months when he was adopted out to a single, older woman. Everything went wonderful for months. Benji was living the good life with a lady who loved him. One weekend, while this same foster Mom was at the shelter picking up poodles who were about to be euthanized, she saw Benji!. He looked pretty bad. It turns out that his owner had unexpectedly been admitted to a nursing home (where she died), and Benji was passed around for a while before being left in the "night drop" box at the shelter. Benji is back in foster care. He came in with an untreated thyroid condition that caused a lot his fur to fall out. The medication is intiating re-growth, and he should like fine in a few months. Benji is a wonderful, sweet guy. He is Mr. Mellow and is never in a hurry. He is laid back, easy going, friendly, and cuddly. He enjoys lazy days, but will bark to let you know when you're ignoring him! Do you have room in your home and your heart for little Benji? He is a great dog who deserves a loving, permanent home. With all he has been through, he isn't bitter and doesn't hold a grudge.....he is just a happy-go-lucky little guy looking for a committment. Please fill out an application and mention "Benji".
