My Story

******Please note, once completing the initial screen you will be connected with the placement for a video chat. Transports run every few weeks and we will have the dog on the next available transport once approved. If you are not able to accept a dog until a specific time period, please apply at that time************ We are a volunteer run rescue and donate our time to these dogs. IF you are not serious about moving forward in our adoption process, please do not apply. If someone other than yourself is part of the decision making process, please make sure you have spoken with them and they are on board. We really do not want to waste anyone's time if you are not serious about adopting this dog. MEET BEAUTIFUL BELLA! Bella is a 10mo old (born June 2023) spayed female black labrador, weighing 54 lbs, and currently is in a foster home in HOUSTON TX. She can be transported out of state to an approved adopter. Bella's rescue story is unlike many others: a family found a wandering loose dog in their neighborhood and took her in...only to soon find out she was pregnant. That pregnant mama gave birth to THIRTEEN puppies and this amazing family did their very best to give all 14 dogs what they needed - physically, mentally and emotionally. Thankfully, the family reached out to rescues and we were able to intake several, splitting the puppies amongst a few local rescues. Bella was raised with her 12 siblings and absolutely adores playing with other dogs. She knows when other dogs want to stop playing, doesn't have issues with high energy dogs, and lights up when she has doggy playmates. Another dog in the home would be great to help grow confidence and bring her out of her shell. She's still learning how to play with other dogs - she can play a little rough, but has started laying down and pawing the other dog to get her to play. Bella is very puppy-like: she likes to chase balls and toys when you throw them for her (and will sometimes bring them back). She takes off for the toys running and bouncing, leaping the whole way to the toy and when she gets to it, she bats at it like she's a cat. It's really funny to see! Bella is excellent in the home. She's still young so she's had the occasional accident, but she gets the hang of a routine quickly and her foster has noted a significant improvement. Bella is crate trained and does really, really well - she takes her meals and sleeps in the kennel, and has spent up to 8hrs crated while her foster is at work. She takes comfort in her "room" and will go to the crate when you tell her without a single bit of fuss. Bella does need a bit of work on the leash but overall has good manners, such that her mom has been able to take her for runs. She does best with some slack on the leash and may benefit from a Gentle Leader head collar or a "no pull" harness, especially if there is a good smell to be sniffed. Bella is curious when she sees another dog when she is on a leash - she notices them and acts like she wants to play. She's an active young lady and overall sweet, curious and silly just as you'd expect. She'd love a yard at her new home to run around, and would love to ride in your car for a trip to the park. She does great in the car, curling up and snoozing until she's reached her destination. Once she is comfortable with you, she loves to get attention and follow you around the house, but is not stuck to you. She can be timid at first but warms up and is quite cuddly and affectionate, she likes to give kisses and be around people. She is very sweet and loving! An ideal home for Bella has doggy siblings and an active life style. She would love to spend the rest of her days getting lots of love from her family and playing in a yard with other dogs. Bella would love a patient adoptive home that is willing to help her navigate this big world and have lots of fun along the way. She does well with gentle correction and redirection, but is still young and learning new interactions with people. She does best with meeting strangers outside of the house before they come inside where she feels safe. We suggest a home with older children that will respect her boundaries when she communicates her discomfort. She has been in a home with a child as young as 10 yrs and did well. We have no history with cats. ***Listed BREED and AGE - We are taking our best guess & recommendations from our veterinarian on age, breed and size when fully grown. We rarely know a dog's exact age nor are we able to tell the true or full breed mix of dogs as our information is limited most of the time. *** Interested in applying to adopt her?
