SUPER STRONG GIRL WHO OVERCAME PARALYSIS AND IS THRIVING AND READY TO GO HOME!
Hello! My name is Bella and I’m a 2 year old bully waiting to find the right home to love me. I’m ready….so are you? I’m about 45 pounds, and up-to-date on my vaccines. I came to CEBR with a terrible spinal condition where I would lose control of my back legs and often would be incontinent. My prior family knew they couldn’t afford the surgery, so they did the right thing and asked CEBR to take me in and help fix the problem and find me a new home.
I had to undergo a long and painful surgery to correct a serious problem on my spine. I was born with a cyst on my spine and at first, I was like any other normal puppy. But as I grew, I had trouble walking and became more and more incontinent. It was determined that if nothing was done soon, I would be paralyzed in no time. As soon as CEBR picked up me up they took me straight to the specialist. I was in surgery within hours to save me from a life of paralysis or worse. Most of the cyst was removed in the operation and I recovered wonderfully. Even though that was a painful process, I was as good as gold-no snapping or growling from me!!! Right now, I am getting therapy twice a week to strengthen my muscles and help me regain and strengthen my nerve control and its going great! I have had such a dramatic improvement and have an entire team of folks at CEBR helping me – called Team Bella! I do a water treadmill and a balance ball and all kinds of exercises at home and at physical therapy and its really working! I’m walking! I’m also getting control over my bladder and making it outside regularly!
I like other dogs and cats and kids—actually I love kids.
You will see from watching my videos that I am a spitfire and have such a strong desire to walk and run. I am chasing balls around like a maniac…that my favorite thing to do. Watch me scoot around on my newly capable legs!
I have great manners and I am sweet and friendly to everyone who comes to visit me and I love working with my therapists. I will likely need an owner willing to keep working on strengthening exercises and to make sure I get outside on a frequent basis for potty stops, but I’m so loveable that you won’t mind giving me the extra attention.
Kisses
Bella

MORE ABOUT CHICAGO ENGLISH BULLDOG RESCUE
We are a pure-bred English Bulldog rescue located in the state of Illinois but serving the Midwest. To determine if you qualify to adopt one of our adorable bullies view our Adoption Criteria and Adoption Area Map.
We serve Chicago-proper and the surrounding suburbs, Illinois, Northwest Indiana, Southeastern Wisconsin including Milwaukee and now will accept intakes from Ohio and Missouri.
CEBR’s Directors and core volunteers are members of the Bulldog Club of America and the Bulldog Club of America Rescue Network. What that means for adopters, surrendering families and shelters is that our bullies get the highest level of care and commitment. They spend their time with us in foster homes where they get daily love and attention.
We are an Illinois licensed shelter and a 501c3 charitable organization. The care we provide our English bulldogs includes a high quality diet, the best veterinary care around (from a bulldog specialist!), and behavioral evaluations of the highest quality. Each of our rescued bullies typically costs CEBR more in care than the adoption fees we collect – on average $536 per bully. Your contributions to help care for our bullies would be so appreciated. CLICK HERE TO DONATE. All donations are tax deductible as provided by law.
Because we receive so many inquiries about our dogs, we’re sorry to say that we can’t follow up on all of them. If you are interested in one of our bullies, please complete an application by visiting www.ebullymatch.com and click on Apply To Adopt.
