Bella has a sweet temperament towards people and a bit of rambunctiousness typical of a young, healthy dog. We estimate her age to be around 4 years old. Whether she will be a good livestock guardian remains to be determined, but she does enjoy sitting outside for hours overlooking her foster homes property and stock, so perhaps this bodes well. She will be a welcome addition to a working farm in any case. Bella will need a fenced-in area to run in, as she has the tendency to roam far afield that all Pyrs share. Her roaming tendencies are why she has been returned to our rescue for re-homing. She has settled in well with her current foster home and has shown she is truly a sweet dog. If you currently have other dogs, and are interested in meeting Bella, we must first make sure they are a match. She has shown signs of disliking other dogs when she first arrived into foster care, but Bella has settled in at this point. We are not clear if this was due to the stress of being moved. We would recommend Bella to be an only female dog.
The beauty of a Great Pyrenees can take your breath away, but they are unique dogs which require dedicated owners who have thoroughly researched the traits of the breed. Feel free to visit our website at www.nepyresq.org for information to start your journey!
