My Story

As a former Puppy Mill mom, Becky had No Reason to trust any human. Learning to trust anything to do with humans has been the challenge with Becky as you will read in her story.

Becky is a Boxer girl with a sweet gentle spirit.
Beck will need a parent who has the time and commitment to show Becky that she can trust someone other than her foster parents.

Becky will eat out of her mom's hand and this is one of the best bonding tools to be used to bring Becky to trust those hands to be gentle with her. She loves to be petted and she craves human companionship though she is fearful at first.

Becky is not an "instant" pet. However, Becky has the potential for being a wonderful trusting companion for someone willing to invest the time and energy to work with Becky. The rewards of helping Becky trust you will be boundless!

Becky enjoys the company of other dogs and another dog in the family might help mentor Becky and help her to develop her trust more quickly.
Becky has a very submissive personality with other dogs.
Becky rides well in the car and has learned to walk on lead with her harness on though she needs the encouragement of a gentle voice to help her along.
Becky is uncomfortable in the house at this time. She will need someone who will help her become comfortable inside. This will come right along with Becky learning to trust her new parent.

BECKY'S STORY:

December 10th, 2006
Bonnie is a pure bred White Boxer with Red and Black on her ears and a Red patch on her back. Becky was a "Puppy Mill" mom.
She was starving in a place or "plenty" that did not extend to the "Inventory" dogs!

Becky is now free to eat, rest, grow strong, become healthy and learn to trust humans. She has to learn that the human hand can feel pleasant. Becky doesn't know what it is to be petted!

Becky is afraid to come out of her enclosure with the warm dog house. She will cautiously come out into the greater fenced yard, quickly run around for a few minutes then run back into the comfort and safety of her enclosure.

Becky will grow strong and healthy with the good food, fresh air, affection and good medical care she has needed.
The sweet Boxer personality that is locked inside of Becky will help her develop into a sweet loving example of her breed.

UPDATE #1: 12/15/06
Becky is after 10 days looking more like a Boxer and less like a dog with all her bones showing.
It is amazing, Becky is beginning to look like the beautiful Boxer that she is going to be.
Becky is still not quite sure humans can be trusted. She wants to come over and be petted with sister Bonnie, but she still hangs back.. Her time of trusting will come.

UPDATE #2: 12/17/06
Note on the pictures the difference 7 days can make with lots of good food, fresh air, exercise and affection can make!
Today there has been more progress. Becky came over and licked my hand while I was petting Bonnie. When Bonnie stepped away Becky moved in close and let me pet her. This time Becky thought it was wonderful and stood on my leg and while I petted her Becky washed my face! She is still more shy than Bonnie....but Wow the distance she has come is amazing!

UPDATE #3: Jan 7th,2007
Please note the difference in Becky after One Month of good care and love!
Becky is now a strong healthy happy Boxer girl. She enjoys jumping up on her igloo dog house and looking around. She will stretch out where the dome and entry way meet, funny Becky!
Becky is scheduled for her Spay surgery, Rabies Vaccination and Heartworm Test this coming week.
Becky will soon be ready to begin her new life with her forever family as a loving happy healthy member. This is one precious little Boxer girl!

August 15, 2007
Becky will only be adopted as a valued inside family member to someone who knows and loves the Boxer Breed and who is willing to invest the time to help Becky develop into the loving companion she can become.
