Beaux is a beautiful chocolate, 9-year-old Dachshund who is ready for her forever home. She came to us paralyzed, but quickly regained use of her legs. Even with a slight weakness in one of her rear legs, she’s a high-energy little girl who loves to run. This little Doxie has some trouble being still. Even when she’s really tired, she still wants to keep going. And she absolutely LOVES to ride -- in a car, a boat, wheelbarrow, or backpack. As long as she isn't left in the house, she’s a happy little camper! Although Beaux does very well with all the other dogs in her foster family, she is capable of entertaining herself and probably would do well in a quiet household. Like most Dachshunds, she is highly intelligent and a bit more mischievous than your average pup. She sees things other dogs don’t even notice...so she will need someone who can keep a careful eye on her. Because of Beaux’s high energy level, she tries to go up and down stairs, hop off the furniture, etc. -- things that she really isn't supposed to do. Beaux is housetrained, but her back injury affected her bladder-control, so she dribbles when she walks toward the door. She wears a diaper most of the time in her foster home. Beaux has a great appetite! She enjoys carrots and other veggies… and she loves watermelon. She has a few favorite chew toys -- one of which is a golf ball! This little girl has a huge personality, and she simply stands out wherever she goes. When the foster family takes her into a pet-friendly store, she always gets tons of attention -- and not because of her handicap, either! It's just because she's....Beaux! Beaux is healthy and isn't currently on any special medications or treatments. She is current on her Distemper/Parvo and Rabies vaccine. She is spayed, microchipped, Heartworm tested, and had her teeth cleaned. She tested negative for Heartworms, and is on Heartguard for Heartworm prevention. Beaux's adoption fee is $400.00. We accept checks or cash for adoption fees... sorry, we do not take cards. Beaux is a loving, active, and smart little girl who deserves only the best home and family! Forever Home Canine Rescue offers a three-week trial period with all of our adoptions, just to be sure that the pet is a good match for the adopting family. The fee is refunded if the adoption does not work out within the trial period. We want to be sure that each of our pets will have their perfect 'forever' home! Although Forever Home Canine Rescue adopts out-of-state, we never ship or transport our pets. An approved adopter must come to North Carolina to meet their new canine companion and then take him/her back home with them.
