One of the resident dogs in Beau's foster home said, "ENOUGH!" so Beau is now in boarding. For a dog who was a long stay at Austin Animal Center, it must feel like being back in the shelter. He is making the best of it, but let's find him a new home ASAP.
Beau is a tiny bit timid with new people. We really mean it when we say just a tiny bit. One of our directors met him last week and within a few minutes he was taking treats from her hand (she started out tossing them as we always do when meeting a dog). A few minutes after that he was jumping up to ask for more!
Beau loved exploring on a long line and wading in the pond at Berry Springs Park in Georgetown. He's a wonderful adventure buddy. He has also lived happily with other dogs; the change in his living situation is because the other dog didn't want to share, not because of Beau.
Beau is pretty easy and flexible about the kind of home that would be a good fit. Adult and possibly dog-savvy teens, house with fenced yard, a modicum of common sense, basic dog skills and love of dogs--those are really all Beau needs in a new foster home. If there are other dogs in the home, we need to make sure everyone gets along and keep them separated till we're sure.
**We are no longer placing dogs for adoption in apartments. Adopters must have a fenced backyard.**
