Meet Bear, a 70-lb 3-year-old Great Pyrenees, American Pit Bull Terrier mix who is up to date on all vaccinations and preventatives. Bear was adopted as a young puppy by a loving family, but unfortunately, due to a divorce and a move, he is in need of a new home. Bear is a playful dog who loves to tug ropes, play monkey-in-the-middle, catch, and fetch. A simple bone can occupy him for hours. He is smart and has taught himself to ring a bell when he needs to go outside to relieve himself, and can even open a door with a lever type door knob. Bear is fearful, but ultimately sweet and loving. He has some socialization issues due to the pandemic, but he does well on large pack walks with experienced dog handlers. At home, Bear's social skills are still developing, and he barks at unknown guests and runs at unpredictable children, especially those he doesn't know. However, he has gotten to know and trust cleaning people, a handyman, friends, and family. Bear has a phobic temperament, which can make him unpredictable at times, so he needs an experienced dog handler. He has never bitten anyone, but he wears a muzzle when there are strangers in the house. He plays well with his sister-dog most of the time, but he can become possessive over resources, which is managed by feeding separately. Bear needs a new home with a patient and experienced owner who can help him continue to develop his social skills. He would love a home with a backyard where he can play and exercise.
