My Story

BEAR is a wonderful and beautiful GSD between 1-2 yrs of age weighing in at 75 lbs. This sweet boy had been out loose for 6 months enduring the hottest and coldest temperatures in our area and surviving off of the cat food left out for the local Ferals. We trapped him and he was brought to the shelter to do his legal stray hold…. no owner ever came for him. We are astonished as BEAR is simply put: A GREAT DOG!! BEAR is a gentle soul with a calm demeanor. He is a sweet, friendly boy whose happy place is with his human! He is up for loves, cuddles and kisses all the time…and craves the attention. BEAR is a pleaser. He wants to make you happy and listens well. He is great on the leash. Walks by your side on a loose leash and checks in. He can get distracted by squirrels, rabbits and other little wildlife he sees, and wants to give chase, but he is easily corrected. He can be a bit of a talker at feeding times and when he gets excited (like when he knows you’re taking him on a walk or out on an adventure!) Bear is great in the car and likes going places with you. BEAR is housetrained and can sleep in a crate but he is fine and more comfortable on a dog bed in your room. BEAR has a playful side too! At first he had no idea what toys were or how to play with them but he’s quickly caught on and loves his Benebone Chew, stuffies and is now fetching a Kong! He also really likes other dogs! BEAR enjoys the company of another dog especially when his human isn’t home. He will do best with a dog over 45 lbs who likes to play and wrestle a bit….BEAR has not been cat tested in the home, nor does he have any experience with very young children, so for cautionary reasons, a home with no cats and no children under 7 years of age. Home ownership of a single family home with an attached yard and secure 6’ fencing is required. BEAR’S adoption fee is $300 which includes current health examination and vaccinations, neuter, microchip, flea and deworming treatment, heartworm and tick borne illness testing (all negative), dental work, and surgical removal of a benign growth from his chin.
