My Story

Anyone need a smile today? Beamer is happy to oblige!!!! Beamer is so named because when a person walks up to him, he smiles or BEAMS in excitement and smiles with great joy around people because he truly believes everyone is put on earth to pet him!!! Beamer is thought to be a Great Pyrenees mix puppy as he has double dew claws on both back legs, and he is wearing the Great Pyr "helmut head" badge of honor just perfectly! This boy is about 6 months old, yet already weighs 35 lbs or more, so estimates are he will be Pyr-sized BIG boy! He is proving to be a good leash walker (doesn't sniff constantly, pulls very seldom, will alert at a squirrel) and Beamer loves to play with other dogs, but like most Pyrs, he is not a high energy puppy and will lay over to the side and watch when he cannot keep up with the rest of the foster puppies and Carson. He was found at the side of the road in rural Kentucky and is lucky to be unharmed, alive and in rescue. Beamer is a big admirer of Albert Einstein and likes to wear his hair in imitation of his hero. Einstein's quote Beamer lives by is, I believe in one thingthat only a life lived for others is a life worth living. Beamer wants to find a family he can live for and love! His new home must have a fenced in yard as Great Pyrs love to roam and patrol the permitter of their yard to make sure all is okie dokie on the home front, and they do this best in a safe and secure fenced in area. He recently went on his first shopping trip to Petsmart and has spent time with high school and elementary aged kids. Everyone who met him, loved him, and said he was perfect... Which of course, he is!!! His foster mom has fostered MANY dogs (most Great Pyr's) for GRRAND and she says: "I think he could possibly make a good therapy dog one day as the temperament is there, he just needs the training... He isn't much into licking people and he sits or stands quietly to be petted. He sits for treats, sits when food is given to him, and is easy to train". Beamer is looking for a home that abides by the GRRAND puppy guidelines: Puppies are a lot of work, and if you are interested in a GRRAND puppy and have children, PLEASE SEE THE ADOPTION FAQs section of the website for more detailed info. GRRAND policies stipulate a few important things that may stop you from applying, and here are 2 big ones- A: GRRAND will NOT place a puppy under the age of 6 months with families with children under 6 yrs old B: Any applicant with children under the age of 16, will require a home with direct access to a securely fenced yard... meaning direct access to the yard from the home so this means no apartments or condos. We are still learning about Beamer while he is hanging out with his GRRAND foster brother Carson, and loves him! If you would like to meet Beamer, please fill out an app at GRRAND.org
