Basalt

Basalt SAPA-A-68826, 2 1/2 yr. old (DOB 1/16/2022), 45 lb, fun, lovable, playful, middle of the road energetic dog. She enjoys tossing and shaking toys and even more enjoyable for her is taking the stuffing out of them. She is calm when inside, sleeping, playing with her toys, watching squirrels and birds outside through door or window. She became comfortable within a few days and accepting my senior dog without any issues. Basalt's beautiful jet-black fur is gently interrupted by a striking white marking on her chest. She usually comes onto the sofa and will stretch beside me or at my feet and sleep. She enjoys belly rubs and stands still for lower back rubs and scratches. She offers her paw, for handshakes. She prefers being indoors but does go out to do her business and will stay outside for longer periods of time, 20 minutes exploring, or chasing squirrels. She now rolls on her back after being outside & allows her paws to be cleaned. She jumps into my car without hesitation and rides calmly and with minimal movement between front and back seat areas. She usually settles in the passenger seat or stands from the back area onto the console during rides. Although she responds to NO, she occasionally jumps up on me. She knows some commands and responds to down; up; no; over here (with hand motions); inside?; outside?; this way; let's go to bed.Recently she has been sleeping on my bed throughout the night without any disturbance. Basalt may be more comfortable as an inside dog and appears to be fine with my smaller senior dog.
