My Story

A long shot at love is better than no shot Right now, that's all I've got . This is Barney AKA Barney Bear Barney Bear came to animal control as a stray. He is believed to be a chow chow mix- ?Chow’s tongue and mouth tissue are a dark blue-black. ?Chow Chow has a unique scowling expression that’s a hallmark- Approximately 7 years old Barney Bear has that scowling expression down pat, along with being very scared being in the loud environment at animal control we thought going to see Nate at Rediscover Your Dog would help give us more information about his temperament. He did well with his assessment and interactions. Barney does move pretty slowly, and it was also noted during his assessment that he has an abnormal gait. So the next step was to get Barney in to see a vet. We took BB to Laketown, where he received excellent care. X-ray shows there was no injuries to his hips or legs, however, he does have significant arthritis throughout his spine. His senior bloodwork panel came back normal. He was started on pain medication. So what does all this mean? Well, everybody at Rediscover Your Dog, thought Barney Bear was a good boy, and everybody at Laketown thought Barney Bear was a good boy, we think Barney Bear is a good boy, and we are hoping somebody out there will also think Barney Bear is a good boy, and want to give him a chance. .?? Like Nate said there's gotta be somebody out there who likes to go on slower walks. ? Being older and having arthritis, Barney would do best in a calm, easygoing adult only home. A home with no children, or other dogs that might jump on him. Help us find him that someone who will - Makei him feel secure Let him adjust at his own pace Know that a Senior dog might need a little extra care.
