Hey future family! My name is Barkley and I am an 8-month-old Shepherd Mix. I enjoy playing with other dogs of all sizes. My foster siblings and I have soooo much fun together! I enjoy playing with many toys and win at tug of war. I’m a higher-energy lad and like to have various forms of enrichment throughout the day. I’m an expert cuddler! I am still learning that my crate is a safe place since I would much prefer to be with you! I get along well with my foster cat sibling but sometimes I think he is a playmate so dog-savvy cats would be preferred. The resident schnauzer and I tag team to patrol the house and make sure everyone knows what’s going on! But I do listen when my foster family tells us to take a break! I'm looking for a forever family that would take me on adventures in the car, to the dog park, and a family that I would be able to make memories with. I’m working on building my confidence when meeting new people and new things. I just need a bit of extra reassurance but once I do, then I'm a friend for life! In my foster home so far I have learned “sit”, "lay down", “paw”, “touch, and to come to my name when called. I started going to Zoom Room dog training for the Lucky Mutts foster class and I am a super fast learner! Another thing you should know about me is that I LOVE water!! I’ve gone swimming a few times and it’s so much fun! I’ve made many human and furry friends, but right now I would do best with kids 9+ because I’m still learning to keep all 4 paws on the floor, I’m working hard on it! Our application process includes landlord approval and vet checks. Please make sure all of your information is current and accurate, including a valid email address and phone numbers. Inaccuracies and/or incomplete data will delay and/or cancel your application. We strive to process all applications in a timely manner, but with the high volume of applications we are receiving, it is taking anywhere from 1-3 weeks. You may be contacted via email if there are concerns or questions. Once all of your information is reviewed and if your application is approved, you will be notified via email. Submitting an application and receiving an approval does not guarantee you will be adopting the dog you applied for. Once you move to the meet and greet process, you will be contacted by the foster family to further discuss the dog, and answer questions you may have, and if applicable, a meet and greet will be set up at our adoption center. Meet and greets are only set up with approved applicants, and we require all members in the household to be present, as well as any current dogs in the home. Meet and greets take place at our adoption center located in Milwaukee. If you are proceeding with adopting a Lucky Mutt, we will require the dog to have a Martingale collar at the time of adoption, to ensure the dogs safety during the transition to a new home. Current Adoption Fees Are: $400+tax for puppies to 3 years old $350+tax for ages 4-7 $250+tax for ages 8 and up Bonded pairs vary The adoption fee covers spay/neuter, up to date age appropriate vaccinations, microchip, general deworming, heartworm test, (if over 6 months) and a certified veterinary inspection. Please be aware, listed dog breeds are based on information provided and cannot be guaranteed. Submitting an application for a particular dog does not guarantee that you will be the applicant chosen, we receive several applications for each dog. Our adopters are picked based on the needs of the dog, and the home we feel with best fit based on your responses to our application, vet information and landlord requirements.
