Looking to add an active, adventure loving boy to your life? Axel is a young border collie looking mixed boy looking to find the right family to be his forever home. Being still a young guy, he has plenty of pazazz and eagerness to please when he has the right guidance. He is an extremely loyal boy who thrives the protect and keep his humans safe from the unknown, all packaged in a petite little 45 lbs. body. Axel can be a little nervous when making new friends. Once he's built some trust with you, Axel loves going for nature walks to take in all the smells and he also LOVES a good game of fetch! He's still working on his leash skills, he is just so excited to explore that he forgets there's a human also attached to his leash and along for the ride. He would benefit greatly from doing some catch up on his manners and general skills, luckily, he is a very food motivated dude. He also has some barrier reactivity that will need some management and work with his new family. At this point in Axel's journey, he would do best being the only dog in his home. He is a confident and independent dude who is a little more selective and rude when it comes to making dog friends. So would prefer being the only dog while he works on some training and bonding with his family before taking on the challenge of learning appropriate dog-to-dog interactions. Because of his nervous nature and lack of good structure thus far in life, he isn't a dude that would enjoy having young kids running around screaming. We think he'd prefer older more dog savvy kids that know how to be respectful of his boundaries, and who will help him learn and grow into the best doggie companion. He is an alert barker so will let you know when strangers come around, or when the mailman arrives. Or when any creature with unknown intentions wanders into the yard.
