Axel Rhodes is a 1.5 year old people loving boy who lives for attention and would love to be the center of your world. He's a spunky terrier breed who doesn't shy away from expressing himself and loves to be on the go. The perfect day for him would include a game or two of fetch and extra long leash walks where he can explore the great outdoors and do lots of sniffing, one of his greatest passions! This bold, adorable and high energy boy is also full of excitement when meeting new faces or greeting his people at the door and he will jump right up in your lap to make his presence known. He's a smart boy who is both housebroken and crate trained with a submissive demeanor around the people he knows and loves. However, when it comes to meeting dogs big or small, Axel wants to be King and can be a bit territorial. Because he's so outgoing, he will bark, jump and come on strong, and doesn't always have the easiest time making fur friends. Although he is friendly and often wagging his tail exuberantly, sometimes his enthusiasm and bark filled greetings are mistaken as aggression by well intended humans. At the end of the day, his foster mommy knows he's really just looking for love and needs training on how to reign in his energy in a healthy way. What he needs is an experienced dog owner who can handle and embrace his spirited personality and can provide the love and patience and training he will require to develop better, less reactive behaviors. Simply put, he is fiercely protective of his loved ones, and until he can prove he is not afraid of everyone being after his people, he is best suited in a home without children where he can gain much needed confidence.
