My Story

sweet young girl ISO new life! AVI NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!! Come meet Avi and other great adoptable dogs this Sunday (Aug. 4th) from 12-3 pm at the Petsmart in Alexandria (3351 Richmond Hwy, Alexandria, VA 22305)! Name: Avi Best Guess for Breed: Lab and retriever mix Best Guess for Age: 1 year 5 months as of July 2024 SEX: Female Approximate Weight: 51.6 lbs as of July 2024 Gets Along With: Avi does great with other dogs! She lived with a cat briefly as part of a week-long shelter pajama party and while she barked at the cat, she didn't try to chase it. She would likely be fine in a home with a dog-savvy cat with proper introductions. Avi hasn't been seen with kids but can be tested. Currently Living at: Far southern Texas shelter; needs a foster or forever home in the DC area to get out of the shelter! All about Avi:Avi and her brother Aden are two of over a thousand animals in a shelter so far south in Texas that it's less than 30 miles from the border. They are eager to get out! They are not bonded; separate homes are perfectly fine! Avi is such a sweetie who is great with all other dogs in playgroup! She is very social, very playful in a soft-puppy like way - but is also full of all that awesome young-dog energy! she responds well to dog corrections and is generally a happy, sniffy dog in the yard. She also spent a week in a home as part of a shelter pajama party event and enjoyed playing with a mini-schnauzer in the home. She loved playing fetch in the backyard with her humans during that event too! She LOVES humans and wants nothing more than to have her own for long sniffy walks, romps in the park, and all the adventures her new family can dream up. She hasn't seen nearly enough of the world yet! Most of all, though, she simply wants to be safe and loved and under her own roof. In exchange, she promises adoring gazes and to always make you laugh - and loyal companionship for all her days. Is that what you're looking for?
