Hello, there. My name is Atlas and I’m a three-year-old gentleman searching for my forever home through Happy Tails Canine Rescue. I’m a bigger boy at just over 60 pounds, but don’t let my size intimidate you. I’m a gentle giant and that just means there’s more of me for you to love. My foster family agrees that I am a super chill, laid-back guy. I just want to please you and be by your side whenever possible. I really am a good boy, I promise. I don’t jump up on people, rarely bark, and I haven’t even attempted to get on my foster family’s furniture, not even when they tell me I’m allowed up there. My 10-year-old foster brother can walk me on a leash with ease/ My favorite snacks in the whole world are cheese and Cheez-its. I get along well with my canine foster sisters, and I have learned to play with them, as I didn’t have the best life prior to being rescued. Sometimes I can be timid and cower towards the ground at fast movements or loud noises because it is believed I was abused in my past. Before coming to Happy Tails Canine Rescue, I was abandoned by my previous owners when they tied me up by my neck to a telephone pole and they left me there, never to return to get me. The local high-kill shelter picked me up, but because I had never been treated nicely by humans, I was very scared and wouldn’t leave my kennel, so I was added to the euthanasia list for being “too fearful”. Because of this, it really hurts my feelings if you raise your voice at me because I’m still learning what it means to be a loved member of an indoor family. I am requesting a home with children over 5 since I’m still quite timid around loud, unexpected noises. I am beginning to come out of my shell, and I will give your hands all the kisses in the world!
