My Story

If you are hoping for the most majestic, mature, floofy boi to be your cuddle bug, you may be in luck, because Aslan is screening applications for his furever family! This big boy came into rescue after circumstances changed with his original people, and he is more than eager to prove that he is the goodest boy. Don't let his goofy face fool you, because Aslan is a smart cookie. Within a few short weeks of being in his foster home, Aslan has already mastered his basic cues, is crate trained, walks well on leash, and is always eager to accompany his foster parents on chore duties. After making sure all the chores are completed with satisfaction, Aslan will happily lay by your feet as you relax with a good book or movie. He has low to moderate energy, doesn’t dig, and rarely barks. He will sound off for loud noises like fireworks, or to let you know that he wants to come inside. Aslan is especially fond of men, always curious as to what his foster dad is up to! This happy, laid-back boy adores all of his toys, from soft plushies to chew toys, he loves them all. He can be protective of his food, so he’ll need to eat separately from other pups until he learns that there’s always enough resources for all. When the weather is nice, Aslan also enjoys chilling in the backyard, often fascinated by the mysterious creatures that the clouds form. There is truly nothing not to love about Aslan, and if you are willing to open your heart to this big boy, he is destined to be your furever best friend for many years to come! NYS Registered Rescue # RR102 NGPR dogs are in foster homes at the location specified on their full listing. View the full listing (with location, fee and application link) at HTTPS://NATIONALPYR.ORG/ADOPTABLE-DOGS Completion of an application is required to be considered for any dog. Please fill out the application on our website and we will contact you. HTTPS://NATIONALPYR.ORG/ADOPTION-APPLICATION/ Due to the high level of interest we can't respond to emails unless an application has been submitted. Our goal is to assess every application on its own merits. Key considerations are: 1) the experience of the applicant with large breed dogs 2) children in the household or regularly visiting the household are ready for a large-breed dog who is a guardian by nature (www.nationalpyr.org/know-the-breed) and 3) the sex of other dogs currently residing in the household to avoid same-sex aggression issues. For puppies under six months old, the applicant’s ability to socialize the puppy with older dogs is a priority. Secure VISIBLE fencing is required; invisible fencing WILL NOT contain this breed.
