Arlo

Meet Arlo, an 11-month old Australian Shepherd mix puppy doggo. We think he has some Border Collie in him because he displays some attributes of both herding breeds. He's handsome as you can tell, but not just a pretty face. He's athletic, super smart, sensitive, lovable, and very very playful! Arlo had a ruff start to life but he has been recovering in doggie play camp therapy and is ready for a fresh start with a new forever home. Arlo's best new home will have a doggie sibling or two and a fenced yard where he can romp and play. A toy box full of tennis balls and stuffies is almost a requirement to stay on his good side. He likes interactive play and is always up for a game of fetch. A rousing tug fest with his people or other dogs makes him so happy too! Arlo likes to go for leash walks and is respectful on leash, although he does best when he wears his gentle leader. He rides well in the car and would love to join you on the hiking trails or perhaps the beach for a swim? From his pictures you can tell he gets along with other dogs but we don't know about cats. Arlo lived in an active, very social family with young children. His previous household was too hectic for his personality and he developed a bit of "stranger danger" which manifested in hiding. Arlo prefers the company of people he already knows but he is learning to expand his inner circle and trust that strangers won't hurt him. His new home will keep working with him to gain confidence, protect his boundaries as he learns to grow them, and gently expose him to positive experiences. It only takes no pressure meet-ups and several pieces of string cheese before he begins to trust and make new human friends. He has so much love and companionship to give and earning his trust will be one of the most rewarding experiences you can have.
