Once, I lived in a crowded home, too many of us to count. It was a bit like being in a superhero comic, except I wasn't saving the world, just trying to survive. One day, a team of real-life superheroes came. They called themselves 'Animal Rescue'. They gently lifted me into a big van, and whisked me away to a place they called 'k9lifesavers'. It was scary at first, but I learned to trust these new friends. I still get anxious around other dogs, but I'm working on it. I'm sweet, friendly, and loyal, just waiting for my forever sidekick. Could that be you? Your new pet will require a refresher in house-training. K-9 Lifesavers strongly recommends all new adopters enroll their new pet into obedience training. This provides for an easier transition into a new home, ensures the dog remains well socialized, and helps form a bond between the dog and the new family. Adoption fees cover basic vetting, spay/neuter surgery (for dogs over 6 months old), rabies, distemper/parvo vaccinations, treatment for worms, heartworm testing, monthly heartworm prevention and monthly flea/tick prevention (while the animal is in our care), and transport costs from high-kill shelter. Please note that on average, K-9 Lifesavers spend significantly more on each dog than their adoption fee. Adoption fee for HW positive dog also covers heartworm treatment at our partner vets.
