Archie has found his forever home with Kris W. in Saunderstown, RI
UPDATE 10/28: Archie is being fostered in Walpole, MA and making great improvements in his foster home. He will make a great companion for the right adopter. A quiet home without too many people coming and going will allow him the best chance to be a great pet and companion.
Archie is likely a lab/German short hair pointer mix who is 2 yrs old and weighs 83 lbs. He LOVES being with children and other dogs. In his first foster home he turned off more than one potential adopter by a tendency he developed to growl at new people he met, especially men. In his current foster home, he gets corrected verbally for doing this and responds beautifully to the correction. He stops, and comes and sits and stays, allowing the new person to enter his space without a problem. And he is then affectionate and fine with the new person within a couple of minutes. He is actually just a big, goofy wuss of a guy but he does startle easily and because of the tendency above to sometimes growl at new people, he is not a dog for a family or persons without dog experience. Archie is a very loving and affectionate boy. He enjoys being outdoors with people, playing ball, treats and hugs! He knows sit, shake, and come, and walks well on a leash. He loves to ride in the car. He jumps right in and rides nicely in the back seat, and has the sweetest tendency to lay his muzzle very gently on your shoulder if you are sitting in the front seat. He would be happiest in a quiet home with a single woman or a couple with no children. Archie loves all women and loves men who have a gentle way about them. There is no adoption fee for Archie for anyone approved by us to adopt, who would be willing to give this sweet boy a chance. The rescue and our rescue trainer will provide free in home training to be sure Archie will make a wonderful pet for you.
Please complete an
online APPLICATION if you wish to adopt. Forever Home Rescue New England is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.
We are a network of foster homes in the South and the New England area. THERE IS NO SPECIFIC SHELTER LOCATION. If you wish to meet our dogs, you must first be approved by going through our application and screening process.
Forever Home Rescue suggests obedience training for all puppies and dogs. All dogs are up to date on their shots, dewormed and spayed or neutered. Vet fees, transport fee and New England quarantine fees ARE INCLUDED in each dog's adoption fee. Also, any dogs older than pups--even if they are not marked housetrained in their posting---usually housetrain within a day or two, because most are used to living outside in the south and will prefer to "do their business" outdoors.
