My Story

Arby is a 1 1/2 year old Wheaton possibly Skye Terrier mix. He weighs about 22lbs full grown. He definitely has the Wheaton, non-shedding coat which will require regular maintenance. Arby gets along well with other dogs. He is slightly nervous initially but with a good introduction within a few hours he's usually off playing with them. He loves toys and will play with any toy he's given a chance to play with and especially loves the squeaky ones.

Arby is unfortunately an example of what happens when folks adopt a dog and then leave them outside. He was adopted from a local shelter and then spent the last 7 months outside, living in a beautiful manicured yard that he never left and during the rainy and stormy nights he had a 'dog house' that protected him. We can only imagine how terrifying it was for him but most of all for such a social dog, he must have been really lonely. Well, now he's been welcomed inside and loves it! He has had a blast playing with his family and getting into the toy box, sleeping at their feet as everyone (including him!) enjoys popcorn and movies at night. He loved going on walks around the neighborhood though clearly the leash is a new concept for him.

Arby is acceptable for older kids. We will probably only consider kids who have had experience with dogs and who are dog savvy. We've had him around dog savvy kids but no small kids and he can be jumpy and uses his mouth to grab things (like toys and food), and it could be intimidating for small kids.
