My Story

This fun guy is Apollo and he can’t wait to impress his new humans and show them how awesome he is! Apollo is super-smart and learns quickly, especially when there are cookies involved. He’s already mastered “sit,” “paw,” and “bedtime” (for going into his crate). And if you like big-dog hugs, you can invite him “up” and he’ll wrap his arms around you! This guy absolutely loves to play. He loves playing with his doggy pals at daycare and would love a big secure fenced in yard with a canine sib to romp around with. He would make a great adventure sidekick dog...how about a hiking or running buddy? - He has the energy for it! Apollo also has his chill moments, and enjoys cuddly evenings with his humans, showing them his imitation of a weighted blanket. Apollo is a friendly, happy and playful boy looking for a wonderful home filled with love and adventure, so if you’re interested in learning more about this awesome guy, apply today! NYS Registered Rescue # RR102 NGPR dogs are in foster homes at the location specified on their full listing. View the full listing (with location, fee and application link) at HTTPS://NATIONALPYR.ORG/ADOPTABLE-DOGS Completion of an application is required to be considered for any dog. Please fill out the application on our website and we will contact you. HTTPS://NATIONALPYR.ORG/ADOPTION-APPLICATION/ Due to the high level of interest we can't respond to emails unless an application has been submitted. Our goal is to assess every application on its own merits. Key considerations are: 1) the experience of the applicant with large breed dogs 2) children in the household or regularly visiting the household are ready for a large-breed dog who is a guardian by nature (www.nationalpyr.org/know-the-breed) and 3) the sex of other dogs currently residing in the household to avoid same-sex aggression issues. For puppies under six months old, the applicant’s ability to socialize the puppy with older dogs is a priority. Secure VISIBLE fencing is required; invisible fencing WILL NOT contain this breed.
