My Story

All HSWA dogs are either at our Dog Adoption Facility or in foster homes. All dogs require an appointment to meet. Please call us at 205-554-0011 or email [email protected] to request an appointment to see the dog/puppy and to check availability. She is house-broken and crate-trained and sleeps quietly in her crate all night. She is also leash-trained and knows how to sit, stay, and come. Annie was found as a stray and spent some time first with a foster family, as she was treated for a variety of worms, and then in the Dog House. Annie is now completely healthy and living with her second foster family, where she has quickly adapted to the new routine. Annie loves to get petted and hang out with the family, but she is also very happy in the yard where she sniffs around, rolls in the grass, and has learned to chase squirrels. She will steal food if she gets the chance, but she’s not in the least bit destructive or rambunctious in the house. As quiet as she normally is, Annie is a terrific watch dog and will always let you know if someone has driven up to the house. Annie can be a bit timid and likes a quiet life, so she would be happier in a family with older children or with a single person or couple. Annie will need a fenced yard if left outside unattended, but she is not to be a strictly outside dog – she is too social to be left alone and she wants to be with her people. She should be fine in an apartment as long as she gets plenty of exercise. She’s a bit fearful of other dogs, so she would need to be introduced to them carefully. Annie lived with cats in her first foster home and showed little interest in them, so she may be able to live with a cat as long as the two are introduced slowly. Like all Humane Society of West Alabama dogs, Annie is up-to-date on her vaccinations, and she is current with her heartworm and flea/tick preventives. She has also been spayed and microchipped. According to her current foster family, she’s the easiest, most contented dog you can find. She’s a bit chunky at the moment, but should get back into shape with regular exercise now that she’s in a foster home again. Annie is truly the sweetest, most precious girl, and she really just wants to be loved and have a family that she can lavish her affection on. Our adoption fee is $125.
