**Andre had his adoption fee SPONSORED for an approved application! Please email [email protected] and request an application to meet him!
Andre is going to take a very special adopter. He has been with us for over three years now. He came in incredibly frightened and had to be caught in a live trap. Someone had turned him loose in the country, and he was devastated. Because of that, he takes time to trust people, but when you earn his trust, he will be your loyal friend for life! He adores the staff and regular volunteers who spend time with him and play with him in the yard.
Andre is estimated around 7 years old and weighs about 110#. He is such a beautiful mixed breed dog. We did a DNA test on him and found out he is primarily German Shepherd. He absolutely loves to be outside and play with toys and chase tennis balls. He is quite strong on a leash but is improving. He is very food and treat motivated.
We are focusing on homes with no children since he is so unsure of people at first and it takes a while for him to warm up. A home with a fence or even a farm would be best as he LOVES to be outside whenever he wants. He also needs to be the only pet in the home. He does enjoy running the fence with other dogs, but we prefer to be cautious with him being so big! He is going to be one that will take patience and understanding but he would be SO worth it. You may need to visit him more than once for him to trust you, but he will be a loyal companion for someone! There has to be someone out there for Andre! We won't stop trying!
