Anastasia

Anastasia is a very special rescue. She was hit by a car and left for dead on a highway in Bakersfield. As she lay on the highway, a motorist saw her lift her head and called animal control. She was picked up and brought to the shelter with a badly broken front leg. Luckily, that was her only injury. We took her to our surgeon (thank you Dr. Phillip Gill @ ASEC) who felt certain he could repair her badly broken leg. Several hours and $3000 later, Anastasia had a cast on almost as big as she is to protect the steel plates and pins that were put in to secure her bone. She has been a great patient. She was ordered to be crated for 2 months and only let out on leash walks for potty breaks. She is such a good girl and never made a fuss. She has made a full recovery and now runs around with all the other dogs. Anastasia is a little trooper and such an angel. She is a year old and weighs about 25 lbs. Anastasia also speaks to you when you pet her or talk to her, it's really cute! Dr. Gill has given the green light for her to be put up for adoption as she has made a full recovery. Due to the fact that she does have steel plates in her leg, her new family must supervise her to make sure that she doesn't jump or fall on her leg. Having said that, only homes without young children will be considered for her. Anastasia is a cuddler and loves to snuggle with her foster mom.
