Meet Annabelle: Your Gentle and Affectionate Companion Annabelle's story began in the most heartbreaking of circumstances. We first discovered this sweet shepherd mix in a filthy kennel in the back building of the shelter, surrounded by her puppies, whom she had given birth to right there. Overwhelmed and without space for a whole family, we had to leave her behind, though she never left our thoughts. Weeks later, on a return trip to the shelter, we saw Annabelle again. This time, her puppies were gone, adopted by loving families. Annabelle, however, was still there, clinging to life against all odds. Shocked that she had survived the harsh conditions, we knew we had to save her from an uncertain fate. Now safe in foster care, Annabelle has shown herself to be the sweetest girl, even after everything she’s endured. She is crate trained, potty trained, and currently learning to sit. Though she is a bit shy at first, Annabelle's gentle soul shines through as she warms up to new people. She is incredibly affectionate and loves being around other dogs. Annabelle is looking for a forever home where she can finally feel safe and loved. Her ideal family would appreciate her gentle nature and be patient as she continues to come out of her shell.
