My Story

Abi and Amos are 3-month-old black lab mixes that were dumped in rural Monticello at the age of 8 weeks. They have been in their foster home since that time where their foster mom has fallen head over heels for them. Yes, they are adorable. Yes, they are sweet. Yes, they will steal your heart (and your socks, and your cell phone, and your bookmarks, and anything else you leave within their reach). And yes, they are a lot of work – they’re puppies!

Typical of labs (especially at their age), Abi and Amos love to chew, so dog toys must be in constant supply or they will make a chew toy out of anything they see. And we mean anything – shoes, rugs, books, cords, couch cushions! They are not completely housebroken, but they are working on it. Abi and Amos are wonderful dogs and will only be placed in a home that has the time and patience young puppies need to learn good behavior.

Labs are very social dogs, and Abi and Amos thrive on attention from people and playing with each other and their foster dog brothers. Their favorite game is to stalk each other and see which one runs first. Abi and Amos will only be placed in homes that will make them a part of daily family activities.

Abi and Amos are full of life and love, and only homes that match their lab loyalty will be considered.

The adoption fee for Abi and Amos is on a sliding scale of $125 to $175. You decide the amount that is right for you to give. We have an all volunteer staff so your entire fee goes straight to save AWF's rescue animals. If your donation covers their medical costs, than the remainder of your donation will help save another homeless pet!

No adoptions outside of a 50-mile radius of Cedar Rapids.

Breed Disclosure: Due to the fact that most of our adoptable pets are strays, we can not guarantee their breed. We list the pet’s breed as the one that best matches the physical appearance, temperament, and personality of the animal. The pet may also be listed as a mix when it’s actually a purebred.
