My Story

Have you heard about Amoeba? She's the spunkiest dog around! Amoeba is the best little companion anyone could ask for! She's a big fan of playtime, and then settling down to take a good, long nap. This active girl is a big fan of playing fetch and tug, and she will happily bring you her toys so you can throw them around. The outside world and unfamiliar people can be a little overwhelming for Amoeba, so she needs an understanding adopter who can help her gain more confidence in new situations. When she's given some time to warm up and feel comfortable around a new friend, she'll come right up and ask for pets! Since settling into her foster home, Amoeba has been described to be well behaved, very smart and very sweet! Amoeba is looking for a home in a quiet, low-traffic area. Amoeba would do best in a home with teens and up. Amoeba needs to meet other dogs one-on-one first. Our staff would love to help make introductions! Does this delightful girl seem like the paw-fect addition to your home? This suggested adoption fee allows the ASPCA to continue our lifesaving work and help even more animals in need. We are grateful for any and all amounts given at the time of adoption.* For more information on adopting from the ASPCA, please visit www.aspca.org/adoptionsteps. **The ASPCA is committed to prioritizing the health and safety of the community, the animals in our care and our staff, and we are keeping a close eye on developments related to the COVID-19 crisis as they evolve. As such, the ASPCA Adoption Center in New York City is currently closed for in-person visitors. However, we are excited to offer remote adoptions using video conferencing! In-person meet-and-greets are also sometimes available or required for specific animals. Please check out our available cats and dogs above, and if one catches your eye, apply directly for him or her. An ASPCA Matchmaker will let you know if the animal you are interested in adopting is eligible for or requires an in-person meet-and-greet. Please note: Adoption applications are handled in the order they are received and submitting an adoption survey does not constitute a hold or guaranteed adoption. You can expect to receive automated emails updating you on your adoption status as our Matchmakers go through applications. Thank you for your patience, and we hope you find your match!**
