You can save animals like Amadou by becoming a foster! Fosters are like way stations between high kill shelters and forever homes. We need fosters so that we can save dogs before they are euthanized at the shelters, so that they have more time to find a permanent family. If you are interested in becoming a foster, please click here and email the questionnaire to [email protected].Meet AMADOU! We're not sure he had ever lived with people before Homeward Trails took him in at the beginning of this year. Since then he has made huge strides: he's now housetrained and walks beautifully on a leash. He's still not crazy about staying alone in his crate, but he's working on it. We'd love to see him go to a home with another dog to keep him company during the day.
Amadou has had lots of new experiences in his new foster home and he's now a regular at his local dog park, where he loves to chase and be chased. He even went on a trip to the beach! He wasn't sure what to make of the waves, but he had a lot of fun barking at them. In his limited exposure to cats, he was nonreactive.
The PLOTT hound is the only 100% American hound with no British ancestry, and said to quickly become attached to people and smart, loyal, eager to please and quick to learn, and an excellent family dog.
