Aloha is a very handsome boy with lots of personality! His foster Mom describes him as ‘very playful, curious, independent and well-mannered’.
He loves playing rough-and-tumble with his canine foster brother yet can turn right around and be gentle and playful with young children. Anyone with toys is his friend! And it’s ‘game on’ when his people bark back at him.
He’s not aware of his small stature and will take-on toys much larger than you would imagine. He’s been known to attempt a dash through the house dragging along his canine foster brother’s bed. So, at this point in his training, he still requires a watchful eye.
While he can still be a bit hand-shy, he is a perfect leash walker and loves prancing around.
He is crate-trained and will retreat to his ‘den’ voluntarily. Car rides in the crate are also great.
He’s doing great with the house training and is learning to potty in only one place in the yard.
He has not yet been exposed to cats so he would need supervision if going into a home with cats.
Aloha is likely a mix of Formosan Mountain Dog and, perhaps, Basenji. He was born approximately January 2009 and rescued from Taiwan where dogs often have no chance at life. Dogs from Taiwan tend to be on the smaller side of similar breeds here in the US. However, as with any mixed breed dog, we cannot know for sure how large a puppy will grow to as an adult. Therefore, will not adopt out dogs who are not fully grown to families who require weight limits.
