My Story

ALOE Breed: Husky/Great Pyrenees Sex: Male Age: 10 weeks Weight: 18 lbs Good with dogs? Yes – living with another dog Good with cats? Yes – met cat in house Good with people? Yes Housetrained? Work in progress Leash trained? In progress Crate trained? Yes Vaccinated? Yes, but will need more as I get older Hi, I’m ALOE from The Plant Litter! I am a very loving dog with a very gentle demeanor. My ears have a mind of their own and either stick straight up or lay down flat… It depends on the day! Some words to describe me: AMIABLE – I play very well with my brother Mr. Rose and my foster brother Lyell (2 years old) INQUISITIVE – I have a very keen eye and pay attention to everything that’s going on around me EASY-GOING – I have an easy nature and go with the flow Here’s what you need to know about me: Yes, I’m very cute but please take the time to read my bio – there’s some great information here! It’s important to be sure you are really committed to all the work a puppy will be before filling out an application for me. My foster family thinks I am a sweet boy. I like to be around people as well as the dog in this house, but I am also independent and have no trouble chilling in my crate on my own. I really like to play! I love pretty much any toy – chew toys, balls to chase and stuffies to throw around. I’m quite content throwing toys around on my own and I also love when the humans here join in and play tug of war or fetch with me. It’s important to remember, that I will teethe on anything and everything, so I should be crated when not directly supervised so I don’t accidentally chew stuff that’s important to you. I am a bit of a shoe thief, so it is important that you put things that you don’t want to get chewed on, up and out of reach. My crate training is going well! I’m still learning to listen to Foster mom and don’t always go in on my own but once I’m in, I settle rather quickly. Sometimes she needs to point in the crate or will use my collar to guide me in. I don’t usually fuss once in the crate, I will curl up and go to sleep. I currently go into my crate at about 11:00 pm and I’m quiet until about 6:00 – 6:30 am depending on the time I get put into my crate. I have all my daytime naps in my crate and Foster mom follows a schedule of 1 hour out of the crate and 1.5 hours in the crate during the day. It’s very important that I spend time in my crate during the day and not just at night as us puppies need lots of down time and naps. It also keeps me out of trouble when no one is home. When I’m let out of my crate, I head right out the door to pee. Foster mom also feeds me in my crate to help me identify that it is a positive space. In my crate I like my blanket to snuggle with and a sheet to cover the crate. Foster mom also puts on a white noise machine, talk radio or rain sounds to help me sleep. It is possible that I may be a little noisy for a few nights in your home as it’s all new, but if I begin to whine or cry initially, do not let me out, give me an opportunity to settle to prevent me from developing habits of whining in my crate or separation anxiety. My house training is going well. Consistency is the key! So far, I’m accident free in the house! Foster mom keeps me on a schedule – when I’m out of my crate, I go outside every half an hour or so to do my business. Foster mom also picks up my water by 8 pm so I can sleep through the night without accidents. When I’m out of my crate, I do sometimes go to the back door to indicate that I need to go out but I’m not consistent yet with it. Keeping me on a leash when I’m not in my crate will help my house-training progress. This way, you can keep an eye on me and take me outside quickly if I start to have an accident in the house. There is a cat in my Foster home and I wagged my tail at her and was calm. I do have an interest in her and have shown zero aggression towards the cat. She approached me and we touched noses! That’s about all she’s let me do but hopefully we can be friends. I live with 2 teenagers, and I really like them. I wag my tail so hard when I see them that my bum moves too! I have met younger children and I like them as well but I’m still young and have really sharp teeth that can hurt… I will teethe on pretty much anything that’s put in front of me – including foster mom’s slippers! I’m a really good boy with a sweet temperament. If I sound like a good fit for your family, please apply for me, ALOE!
