Alfie

Alfie is a very sweet male Rhodesian Ridgeback. Last week when it was in the frigid below zero weather, Alfie was found in a person's yard hiding under their deck in Marquette Township. A kind gentleman called for help and because of the drastic weather, Alfie needed to be rescued ASAP. The gentleman, another kind person and shelter supervisor, Dayna Kennedy, managed to get a very scared Alfie out from under the deck and to the shelter. Poor Alfie was terrified, freezing and very skinny.
Once at the humane society, Alfie was set up in a large kennel on a comfortable raised Kuranda dog bed, blankets and plenty of food and water. Alfie waited for a week to be claimed however no one came. The staff is giving Alfie tons of TLC. He was nervous with fast movements and was scared when cornered; however is much better now. Alfie is a sweet, soul who trusts very quickly. He has the most soulful eyes, so trusting. Alfie is coming right along with all the care and love he is getting. His strength is coming back, there is a spring in his step and he really likes other nice dogs. He is like a different dog after only a couple weeks...he is feeling great and you can tell! He is becoming very confident and doing so well.

Since Alfie likes other dogs a lot, a home with another dog may help Alfie continue coming out of his shell. Alfie is well-mannered, extremely sweet, and a wonderful guy who has become quite a character! He appears to be house-trained and is neat in his kennel.
The Rhodesian Ridgeback is a calm, obedient, good-natured breed who make wonderful pets. Alfie has all these traits, he just is in need of a person or family to help Alfie to continue moving forward and to learn that most humans are kind. With continued love and tenderness, Alfie will make a terrific, devoted, loving 'Best Friend' for a lucky person or family.
