My Story

Alaska has found his forever home in Kamloops! Congrats to you and your new family!

Adoption Update; May 14:

Here is what Alaska's new family has to report so far: "Alaska seems to have fit right into the family. My daughters took him out with them to play frizzby golf, he didn't seem to interested in trying to catch the frizzby but he stayed by their side the whole time. They have a couple of pictures that I'll forward to you. They did say that Alaska has a fan base in Kamloops now. After their game they took him to an icecream shop downtown and as they sat outside with their icecreams everyone stop and wanted to pet him and ask the girls about him. He never once tried to attack anyones icecream cones as they did this. (he is so great that way) They even had people slow their vehicles down to look and "aww" him. He doesn't seem to interested in toys yet, but there was some poplar fluff flying by and he went crazy trying to catch it. It was hilarious."

Adoption Pending; May 9:

Alaska is on his way to a new home in Kamloops this coming weekend! He will be living with an active couple who is looking forward to making Alaska the center or their attention. We know he can't wait.

Upon Arrival; April 02, 2006:

Alaska only had 2 get days to live, but because he had such a great personality, a very special person at the shelter where he was taken in contacted Shar Pei rescue and begged for help to save him. Alaska was definately worth saving! Look at that face, those ears, that super cute waggy tail. He just wants to be loved!

Alaska is an obedient and loyal dog He is happy, friendly, and good with the kids, cats and dogs he has met here so far. Alaska has had some training in his past as he knows how to sit, lie down, stay and heel. He travels well in the car and is fully house trained.

Alaska likes to sleep in the littlest bed in the house, or on his human's bed. Alaska really loves people and when he's really happy, he has "helicopter tail"!
Alaska would be fine as a second dog, especially if he were to have a female companion. So far his favourite playmate has been a very alpha senior female Shepherd Healer cross.
He gets a little excited on leash when he sees other dogs and is better off leash with others. He is overly interested in un-neutered males but has just been neutered so this facination should mellow out as his hormones do.
Alaska is eager to please and already responding to training to correct these behaviours. Keeping him well socialized with other animals will ensure he keeps improving his social skills.

Alaska has been to the vet and is recovering well from a needed eye surgery. Nothing serious, just an eye tuck. This procedure is often needed at his age and will most likely not be needed again. He has been health checked as well as nuetered and is now ready for a new home!

For the happy ending to Alaska's story we need you to open your home to Alaska and adopt him! Please contact us to find out how to meet him and give him that very happy ending he came to Vancouver for!

Thank you to Linda Cook in Fairbanks for contacting us and saving his life.
Thank you to Anne in Whitehorse at the Mae Buchar Shelter for getting him to and from his planes and giving him care and attention in between.
And thank you to Northair Cargo and Shawn for donating the flight cost and bringing him here to Vancouver.
Thank you again to the Virtue clan for organizing so much of his journey and fostering Alaska.

So many people came together to help this boy to get to TnT Rescue so we could find him a new home. A big THANK YOU is in order from TnT and Alaska to you all!
