My Story

Update 1/14/09: Wow…that was a long trip and are we ever glad to be here! Everyone is so nice and wants to cuddle with us…I think we’re gonna like it in NH! We are six boys and two girls and our foster families say we are really smart and playful. The first thing they did (after snuggling with us of course) was to give us baths, good food and finally a lot more snuggling. If you are interested in adopting us, please send an email to [email protected] to request an application. On December 12, 2008, Nutmeg and her 8 pups were left in a wire cage along-side a road in Georgia. The animal control officer took them into the municipal shelter and the word went out via email to rescuers in the area to please help. A wonderful, experienced rescuer from Anderson, SC heard the call and negotiated with shelter workers for their release. They were transferred to a vet’s office in SC, where they have been health checked and cared for. This gang is on its way to NH and will be available soon. We are now accepting applications & will be conducting home visits & reference checks. Mom is a Great Dane cross with a sweet and wonderful disposition. She has willingly & gratefully accepted all the human help that has been offered, and appears to get along well with everyone, including other dogs. She is very thin…but healthy, parasite-free & heartworm negative. Mom will be spayed as soon as she has regained some weight…nursing eight pups has taken a lot out of her! The Spice pups are amazing, chubby little bundles of love. It looks like dad might have been a lab. The pups are shaping up to look very Dane-Lab. They are about 7 weeks old and already good size pups. They are expected to be large – extra large as adults. All are black, some with white markings. They are healthy, playful and looking forward to bringing joy to the families lucky enough to adopt these kids. They have had their first puppy shots and are parasite-free. They will be spayed/neutered prior to adoption. If you are interested in adopting Nutmeg or one of the Spice Pups, please email me at [email protected] for an application. An adoption fee of $225 will help to cover the medical and transportation expenses incurred during their rescue. Donations to assist with Nutmeg and the Spice Pups care would be gratefully accepted…contact me at the email above for more details.
