6/24/10...
Max is doing very well. He still has small temporary anal tissue prolapse occasionally, but it does not last long & the incidents are infrequent. Our vet is encouraged, saying Max appears to be developing strengthened muscles & holding things together nicely. Max gets a stool softener a couple times a day to prevent straining.
Max adores toys & stock piles them in his doggie beds. He has picked the smallest dog bed as his favorite & squeezes his chubby little body into it with his favorite toys.
He is so cute when he gets excited. He does a little moon walk backwards in excitement.Max has excellent house manners. He still has a small gland protrusion in his left eye, but it causes him no problem. Max is a dear dog who is so grateful to have been given a second chance.
5/16/2010 Max is doing well and is a happy bouncing little boy. His coat is still a bit sparse, we are giving it time for good food &recovery from a rough surgery to see if it will come in better & if not he will go back to the vet. He is the easiest dog in the world to foster. He is house trained and does not make a mess, he has the option of using pads but holds it until he can go out to the fenced yard. Max loves mealtime and does a funny litle moon walk backwards in anticipation of a yummy warm breakfast or dinner. I love this dog & he deserves the BEST home we can find for him.
4/17/2010 Max is a spunky, sweet, smart little boy who was abandoned at a vet's office in eastern Kentucky. How very sad, especially because he had a perianal hernia about the size of a baseball! He really needed his family to help him, but instead they abandoned him.
SCMR was contacted and asked if we would help Max. In spite of it being an expensive surgery, we knew we had to do what we could for him. Max has a wonderful attitude and never let on that it was causing him any discomfort, but OH MY! Look at it !!! It had to be painful.
Max had his surgery to repair his hernia. We also went ahead and had him neutered & brought up to date on his vaccines. He tested negative for heart worm and he had his teeth cleaned. Donations are being accepted to help us pay for his expenses. Thank you to our generous donors for helping dogs like Max. It would be impossible for us to do what we do without you.
Max is feeling all shiny and new again and is really hoping for a loving home to welcome him. He is a very active, bouncy dog, estimated to be about 8 years old. Max weighs about 13 pounds. He is so well behaved, truly an easy little dog to care for. Max is housetrained, as long as his family is working with him to take him out to potty on a regular schedule. He deserves a great home. Please consider adopting Max. He will repay you with many, many years of sweet devotion and companionship.
