Abby

Abby is a 3YO, female Newfoundland. Abby came to us after she was left mostly neglected in an outbuilding by herself (no other critters). She has suffered some developmental quirks due to this (and possibly some stunted growth), and thus she has spent some time in rescue adjusting to a more predictable environment with guaranteed dinners. She loves her crate and will collect her preferred toys in it. Her foster mom often refers to her as her 'Little Cave Dragon.' Abby likes this predictability and thrives under, so a home with regular schedules and not too many visitors is going to be the best bet for her. Abby is NOT a fan of other dogs and would prefer to avoid them entirely. While she has had a few canine playmates, those sessions ultimately devolve due to over-stimulation and resource guarding (which we think is likely due to her history). She is much happier sniffing around the yard on her own without canine companions. She is interested in cats, but easily calls away from them now that she's a bit older. While she does like a good belly rub, she is not a cuddly dog (yet) and will turn into a bull in a china shop if you attempt to hug her on any but her own terms. She is on the smaller side and would likely enjoy outdoor activities with her humans (like hiking, swimming, etc) if they were worked these things into her schedule slowly. She will require a physically fenced yard, at least four feet high. Health Concerns: Abby has some Summer allergies that are occasionally treated with Apoquel. (And yes.. she got into the trunk on her own accord, we aren't sure why, but it sure was funny.) Quick Compatibility... We do not allow our dogs to be transported by anyone other than their adopting owner. Our adoption fees vary by dogs, but range from $300-$800.
