My Story

“Bud”weiser (and his brother “Jager”meister, also posted) is a purebred chocolate Labrador Retriever. He came into our rescue after the person that bought him as a puppy decided he cost too much to feed and he didn’t want him anymore. “Bud” and his brother were left to their own devices growing the first year of their lives as they were left outside to roam around. “Bud” is a year old and weighs 105#. He is a big chunk of chocolate love and fun! “Bud” loves stuffed toys especially if they have a squeaker in them! He really enjoys splashing around in the pond on the 4 acres of fenced property at his foster home. He likes to run and play as much as he loves to be in his foster mom’s lap hanging out on the sofa. While he hasn’t had much training, he is eager to learn and will do well with positive reinforcement—he is very treat motivated so that will be helpful in teaching him desired behaviors. “Bud” will need a very active home life which must include at least 2-3 hours of vigorous activity a day and the more the better to meet his energy needs. At 1 year old, he will need people home the majority of the time (no more than 4 hours alone a day. Once he learns to walk well on a leash, he would be a fantastic running/walking/outdoor activity partner. Ideally, his home will have a fenced yard to allow him to chase tennis balls/frisbees etc. to help burn off his energy. He would love any activity that he can get in water too. “Bud” plays well with other dogs but will do best with dogs in his size range. He likes cats and generally respects their boundaries. He will need someone that has some experience in training a pet because he is basically a clean slate—think a puppy in a big dog body with regard to basic commands and manners. “Bud” is a wonderful lab with all of the classic Labrador personality traits—fun, active, loving and sweet. Due to his size, we are not accepting applications with family members under the age of 12 at this time. If you are looking for the ideal companion that can keep up with your active lifestyle “Bud” is the boy for you!!! Haven on Earth Rescue Inc. provides long-distance adoptions. Our dogs are fostered in homes in the South and are transported to the Northeast via a USDA certified transport company. Please read this description carefully prior to applying.
