Hi! My name is Van! I had been a stray cat all of my life, but desperately wanted a home to call my own. So I started hanging around in a neighborhood that looked like a nice place to live. A kind woman noticed me, saw how very friendly I am, and after realizing I did not have a home, called a wonderful shelter that took me in.
The shelter then took me to a veterinarian who was also kind to me (except I didn’t particularly care for the shots!). I was told I am FIV positive. This happens to many cats like me who have to live on the streets and fight other cats for food and territory. However, I can live a long and healthy life despite this circumstance. I should be an only cat just in case because it can be passed from cat to cat if we were to fight and cause a bite wound. However, it cannot be passed on to humans or dogs or any other animals.
I don’t know how I would do with a dog brother or sister, so a slow introduction is what my shelter suggests. But I do know I love people! All kinds of people! I may look a little rough around the edges due to my “street days,” but I promise to be a diamond in the rough inside if you give me the chance to love you. Please stop by my shelter and ask to meet me! I would love your home to be my forever home!!
