Utah first came to us last fall. She was living in a home with 3 other cats and 2 large dogs – and she was scared to death of the dogs. So scared, in fact, that she didn't always use her litter box. Her owners felt that she would be a much happier kitty in a home with no other pets.
Utah is 5 years old and just a delightful cat. As scared as she is, she's flirtatious and funny and responds very well to affection. She just wants so badly to be loved and to live in a nice safe, quiet home.
In November Utah was adopted into a new home. But unfortunately, she did not always use the litterbox there either and now she has come back to us again. Utah was found as a stray when she was already about 3 years old; coupled with her history in an overcrowded household, it is possible that she just doesn't understand that the world isn't her litterbox - she needs the great outdoors, not the confines of a little rectangular box that might offend her delicate little nose.
Can you give Utah another chance? A cat like Utah would be very well suited for an indoor/outdoor life in a rural setting, such as a house ranch or farm.
She's waiting for her rescue at the Animal Rescue League in East Liberty.
