Stamper

Meet Stamper, a very handsome black & white fellow who is looking for someone to love him and to help him gain more confidence with people. He is about 3-4 years old and has long soft fur and lovely green eyes. He is also a tripod kitty who has no difficulty climbing cat trees, walking stairs or jumping up on the couch to cuddle next to you. Stamper was a contented kitty with his previous owner, a very nice elderly lady who lived in the Wallingford neighborhood. She loved him and took the best care she could but Stamper was often on his own to roam the neighborhood. It was during this time that he injured his left hind leg and it had to be removed. When Stamper's owner moved into assisted living, a concerned neighbor notified Alley Cat Project that he needed a new home. Foster care has been an adjustment for Stamper. It took a couple of weeks before he would venture out of the safety of his cat room to begin exploring the new surroundings. Once he settled into the quiet routine of his foster home, Stamper determined that his foster mom was friend, not foe, and that living indoors, was not so bad. Now he especially enjoys the cuddles, having his chin scratched, watching activities out the window, conquering wand toys, and he *loves* to be combed. Stamper is still shy with strangers and will run to a corner when people come to visit, so he'll need someone with patience to help him adjust. What Stamper is looking for in a home: * He will do best in a calm, quiet, adults-only household or one with an older teen. * He enjoys interactive playtime and it's a great way to bond. * He would benefit from more space in a larger home vs small apartment. * Pettings, chin scratches, and especially combings are favorites with him. (Regular grooming will be good for him, too.) * He needs to live indoors only. * He is new to indoor life with humans so will need a kind and patient guide to help him continue adjusting. * He is a perfect companion kitty, especially for someone who works from home and needs peace & quiet. * He is still shy and skittish when confronted with new people. * He has no known history with dogs or other cats but likely prefers to be an only cat. * He uses the litter box faithfully and the cat tree scratching pad with regularity.
