My Story

Stalker Have you ever seen a bobcat and thought “What a cute pet that would be”? Well, if you have, and you are patient and cat-savvy, Safe Haven has a wonderful opportunity for you. Despite his somewhat ominous name, Stalker is a shy kitty who is slow to warm up to strangers. He earned his name because he followed his mom around and enjoyed being near her. He is not a predator, as his name implies, but he is also not a lap cat. He’s more like an independent companion who will enjoy your company, but also enjoy his space. Stalker can be petted but he will also swat at you if you surprise him or if he’s not interested in contact. An experienced cat person who can read cat signals can usually avoid a swat. We discovered that he also enjoys the presence of other mellow cats, so a cat companion might be a good idea for Stalker. This handsome American Bobtail was raised from his kitten days by a loving mom. The family’s recent move along with health issues experienced by the couple has not allowed them to spend enough time with Stalker and they made the difficult decision that he needed more attention and a larger home where he could explore, be independent, and also get attention and affection. It will take a patient and cat-savvy person, or couple, to help Stalker adjust to a new home since it will be his third in a short period of time. He will be happy to watch you, and then follow you around ( but not in a creepy way) as he adjust to a new environment. His mom reported that he is a very intelligent cat who loved to enjoy the outdoors in his stroller (he was not allowed outside on his own). A quiet home, with no children and maybe a laid-back kitty companion would work great for Stalker if you have the patience to enjoy his gradual progress. If you are interested in meeting Stalker, please go to our website and fill out an adoption application and we will be in touch to make an appointment for your visit. Filling out an application is not a commitment to adopt. You can call 207-646-1611 if you have any questions. https://www.safehavenhumanesociety.org/adoption-form/
