My Story

Sombrero was brought into FFAR's foster/adoption program with this sad email we received: "Sunday 6/30 we found a crate holding 7 cats (3 adults | 4 kittens) abandoned at a park by our house on a sidewalk in the blazing sun. It was an awful situation. They were in a lot of distress, so we scooped them up and got them to our house for A/C and hydration. They are currently residing in our guest bedroom/bathroom but our 4 rescue pups are not having any of it, so we need to find a place for them as soon as possible. We have and will continue to contact rescues but those I’ve received feedback from so far are saying their intake is closed. We’d like to exhaust all our options before we call animal control." It's really tough to comprehend what folks do and possibly there is no way to make sense of it, but thank goodness for this couple who found them and took this on - no small task. We, too, are full, but agreed to take one of the adults and that was Sombrero. He's now fully vetted but was not at the time (none of them were) so it is likely these cats belonged to someone and the adults, being unsterilized, had kittens. It is probable the owners were overwhelmed with this, but unbelievable that they chose stuffing the all into a single crate and leaving them in the hot sun rather than surrendering them to a shelter. But back to Sombrero, although he had obviously been around many cats, initially in his foster home he hunkered down and didn't know what to make of the zoo he found himself in. However, he came around in a few days and is a very sweet boy. The folks that found him described him as "super friendly and affectionate." All he needs now is a forever home that will keep him safely inside and let him live the life he deserves to live. He's young, in the two-year range according to our vet, so has lots of love left to give. If interested in meeting this sweet boy who has been through so much horror, please go to furryfriendsanimalrescue.org and submit an application You will be contacted within 24 hours (if not, please check your spam folder).
