My Story

My foster writes: Smokey is the sweetest boy!! He is not scared of anything or anyone and showed up to our house ready for pets and love. Actually the first thing he did when he arrived was not explore or sniff the new apartment but went straight for the food bowl, safe to say smokey is a FOODIE! He will break into his food at night if it's not sealed. As long as the food is away, smokey can be left alone for long periods of time and has never shown any destructive behaviors. He alternates between being a playful boy and a couch potato. Smokey loves pets and snuggling up next to you. He is not scared of strangers or any noises, nothing can interrupt his cat naps! This sweet boy is purrrfect! I can be slow to adjust to new environments. I prefer to take things at my own pace. I am looking for a home with a patient person. I am really treat motivated. You can use treats to teach me new things! I am excitable and energetic! I will need positive outlets for my energy! I am not one to sit still and will love interactive playtime in my new home! Smokey interacts with the observer, appreciates attention and allows all petting, but did not appear to like being picked up during their behavior evaluation. He stress-meowed, low-growled and hissed when pick up was attempted. Please keep in mind there are many reasons why a cat may be uncomfortable with this type of handling and that this may not necessarily translate into a home environment. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents. Any future home with children should be counseled in respecting the cat's space and for the family to use care when picking him up, especially while they're adjusting to their new home.
