Meet Smokey! Smokey is a very sweet guy that came to us as a transfer from another shelter. We believe he was born in February of 2021. Smokey can be a bit reserved / shy with new people, but once he gets to know you he LOVES to be petted, get chin scratches, or even give you a nose boop! We believe he would do best in a calmer home, with a family that understands he may need a little extra time to adjust to his new life. Smokey does well with other cats here at the shelter, but we are not sure how he feels about dogs. Are you Smokey's new best friend? He hopes so! All pets adopted from the Humane Society of Freeborn County will be spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, testing and will be microchipped. All of this is included in their adoption fee. Fill out an application to adopt at freeborncountyhs.org When transitioning your new pet home please allow for at least 4-6 weeks for your pet to adjust to their new home. They will need this time to decompress, and adjust to a new routine and environment. During that time we will provide check ins and counseling to ensure a successful transition. Please review all basic adoption requirements listed on our website before applying. We take finding the right homes for the animals in our care very seriously. They deserve nothing but the best! Please allow 2-7 days for applications to be processed. If an animal is listed in foster care, these pets are not at our facility, but are in foster care homes. They are still available for adoption, and meet and greets are done with pre-approved applicants only.
